Tovino has the perfect reply for 'feminichi trolls'

In the past few weeks, the women from Malayalam cinema who have called out the sexism in the industry's films have found themselves at the recieving end, with fans of the superstars and many others abusing them. Tovino Thomas' latest release Mayanadhi has been directed by Aashiq Abu, a self-confessed feminist and the husband of Rima Kallingal, who has always been a crusader against sexism in cinema and society.

The abusers and trollers have been threatening to boycott the film, because they associate it with a 'feminichi' a derogatory term for a feminist.

However, the film has been getting a good footfall in all theatres, but the trollers continue to threaten, albiet a bit weakly. A comment on Tovino Thomas's fb wall went like this: I wish to see the movie and like Tovino, but I decided against it when I think of feminichis.

Tovino has given a sharp and poignant reply to the comment, thus: For what? Who are you trying to defeat? Me? This film? Or Malayalam cinema? Or the hundreds of people who have worked for this film who have no connection whatsoever with this incident? Even those on whose name you are doing this will feel sad at your actions. Let there be love and happiness all around.
